Looking for performers ages 8 and up for "Matilda" The Musical. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty! In 2010, Dahl’s beloved children’s book leapt to the stage bringing his characters to life with dynamic songs and innovative staging, winning 16 Best Musical awards! It’s the inspiring story of an extraordinary girl with an unbounded imagination who proves that, despite the odds, you can do anything you put your mind to. Additional info: Students ages 13 and up should prepare (including memorizing) a 1 to 2-minute monologue from a published play and a 16 to 32-bar cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show. Students aged 8-12 should prepare (including memorizing) a 1-minute monologue or poem, and a 16 to 32-bar cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show, OR may opt to sing “Do-Re-Mi” from The Sound of Music. The sheet music and a link to a YouTube video to practice “Do Re Me” are attached to the audition packet. Directors will play the music live in your audition. Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. There will be a full-company read-through on Monday, September 30th at 6 pm. This production will rehearse on Sundays from 1-5 pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6-9 pm. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal.
