Children Theatre Casting Call for "Peter and the Starcatcher"

About the project: In this prequel to Peter Pan, a young orphan and his mates are shipped off from Victorian England to a distant island ruled by the evil King Zarboff. They know nothing of the mysterious trunk in the captain’s cabin, which contains a precious, otherworldly cargo. At sea, the boys are discovered by a precocious young girl named Molly, a Starcatcher-in-training who realizes that the trunk’s precious cargo is starstuff, a celestial substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands. When the ship is taken over by pirates - led by the fearsome Black Stache, a villain determined to claim the trunk and its treasure for his own - the journey quickly becomes a thrilling adventure. Additional info: For the initial audition, actors should be prepared to deliver a 1-2 minute comedic monologue. Directors are looking for an ensemble of 15-20 actors with a gift for comic theatricality. The show is a high-energy physical piece. Willingness to sweat in pursuit of good storytelling is a must. Most characters will have at least a British dialect. (Directors can probably make use of any solid UK accent: RP, northern England, Cockney, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, etc) The ability to switch seamlessly between dialects/characters is a plus. There is some singing in the show, but it is generally of a nature that vocal talent will be secondary to volume, humor, and character. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the script and may include basic singing and movement auditions. Audition Callbacks are Sun Aug 4 from 2-5 pm.
