Child auditions are open for the musical production "School of Rock". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: *Performers who play musical instruments are encouraged to audition. However, a coach will be available throughout the rehearsal process to help actors cast in roles that play an instrument onstage regardless of prior experience. Auditions will consist of individual singing auditions and a group dance audition. Actors should prepare one minute from a pop/rock/musical theater song in the style of the character they are auditioning for and bring either sheet music for the accompanist to the audition. Important Dates: Regular rehearsals (usually Sundays-Thursdays 6:30 pm-9:30 pm) will tentatively begin on Sunday, August 4th. Rock Tenor (plays guitar onstage*): An overly ambitious, rock-obsessed, under achiever. A highly energetic and comedic role.
Soprano: An uptight and highly strung headmistress of an elite school. Driven by success and prestige. However, inside lives a caged rock and roll lover.
aritone: Substitute teacher and former band member of Dewey’s, Ned has decided to take the ‘responsible’ road in life and has given up on his dreams of becoming a rock legend.
Mezzo-Soprano: The loving but dominating partner of Ned, Patty is constantly trying to mould Ned into the person she thinks he should be.
(10-12 performers, All Vocal Ranges): Ensemble will need great characterization and comedic skills, some basic movement ability and strong vocal abilities to play the parents, teachers and other characters in the world.
Looking for experienced musicians (guitar, bass, and drums) to be in the Pit Band for the show and also play small speaking/singing roles in the show.
No specific age requirements (besides being at least 10 years old). Aiming for a diverse class of kids that look like they are simply the same age as each other.
Role in Band: Manager; Highly intelligent, over achieving and overly controlling Horace Green student with a demanding presence. Holds high expectations and standards for herself and everyone around her. Suspicious of Dewey and his unorthodox teaching ways.
Role in Band: Lead Vocalist; A new student at Horace Green, her fathers are failing to see that she is struggling to fit in. Withdrawn and shy but with an underlying enthusiasm and desire to be part of the band. Blows everyone away when she sings. Must have a strong singing voice.
Role in Band: Plays Guitar Onstage; A highly gifted musician and songwriter but struggles to connect with his overbearing, workaholic father.
Role in Band: Plays Drums Onstage; Loves a bit on rowdiness and noise, making him a great drummer. His own father doesn’t see his ability, constantly belittling his son.
Role in Band: Plays Bass Onstage; Distinguished by her talent for the bass, Katie takes to being in the band like a fish to water. Energetic, enthusiastic with a lot of rhythm and attitude.
Role in Band: Plays Piano/Keyboard Onstage; A shy, awkward boy, unconfident and gauche, but a genius on the keyboard who needs a free spirit like Dewey to lead him out of the darkness.
Role in Band: Back-up Singer; Quiet, Stylish, but strong voice

Role in Band: Stylist; Flamboyant and artistic. Billy has a passionate interest in fashion, even though his father wants him to like sports.
Role in Band: Techie; A total whiz with technology and creates special effects and fanstastic lighting designs with his laptop.
