About the project: “Chinese Satellite” is a short film about Wang, a Chinese student who struggles to find his place in the social sphere of a Midwest University. Marvin, a new friend who also doesn’t fit in, invites him to a farmhouse, only for Wang’s rowdy roommates to tag along. The film covers themes of isolation, identity, and international relations. Rate: $50/day with food and anything you might need for portfolios. Additional info: Project dates: June 1-7. 3-4 filming days. Directors haven’t decided on final shooting days yet, but they will be a mix between days and nights. Project Location: Madison, Rio. Film’s Intention: Portfolio/festivals. (Chinese): Wang is a Chinese student studying at a university in the Midwest. He struggles in finding a place among the social sphere and ends up at a farmhouse with a new friend and his party-animal roommates.
Marvin meets Wang at a party and quickly relates to his feeling of not fitting in. He invites him to a farmhouse and eventually shows Wang his true identity.
