Casting Teen Performers for "The Girl in the White Pinafore"
Seeking performers ages 14-18 years old for "The Girl in the White Pinafore" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: On the last day of his life, William Chesley Shaw is haunted, figuratively and literally, by his past. He had been the superintendent of the New London, Texas school district on March 18, 1937, when, due to a gas leak from an improperly installed pipe beneath the school, the New London school exploded. The children of the New London school, led by Amelia (the Girl in the White Pinafore), now haunt Shaw. Hurt and confused, Amelia cannot move on until she can forgive herself for her mistakes on that fateful day and Shaw for his leading to the tragedy. More a story of the search for redemption than an outright ghost story, The Girl In The White Pinafore asks tough questions about guilt and grief. Based on real events that have touched the lives of the entire country, even today, whether you know it or not. Additional info: Auditions will be held in a small group format and consist of cold reads from the script. Directors will make every effort to allow you to read for a specific character if you wish and if a side and the time is available, HOWEVER, by auditioning you understand you may not be cast in the role you want (or may not be cast at all) and agree that if you are cast, to play whatever role you are cast into the best of your ability. Please come in clothes that allow freedom of movement while allowing you to remain appropriately covered. Out of respect for the age range and for your safety, crop tops, tube tops, sports bras with no over-shirt, short shorts or skirts, high heels, and/or open-toed shoes are strongly discouraged. Hair should be styled so that it remains out of your face during the audition process. Directors appreciate you dressing to impress, however, directors also want you to be comfortable and able to move!
