Casting Teen Performers for "The Chosen" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ADMITTED. Theatre is seeking actors ages 16+ for upcoming production of "The Chosen". Please, see the details below. About the play: Set against the backdrop of 1940’s Brooklyn, two boys living five blocks away and two worlds apart – one from a Hasidic dynasty, the other traditional Orthodox. When Reuven is injured by Danny during a heated baseball game between their rival yeshivas, a unique friendship is born. As the boys grow to manhood, they are forced to learn important lessons about each other, their fathers and themselves. It is a timeless story about faith, family and friendship and the universal struggles of growing up, making difficult decisions and finding one’s place in the world. Rate: This is a non-union, non paying production. Additional information: Callbacks: Thursday April 18th, 2024 – 12 – 6 p.m. Performance Dates: September 19th – 26. Please prepare a three minute monologue. Whena pplying, please submit resume, headshot and indicate the role you are auditioning for. Actors selected for an audition will be contacted and given a time and the location.

Stage age 16-18 – A young Orthodox Jewish man. David Malter’s son – Intelligent, athletic and thoughtful. He is especially talented at mathematics.
Stage age 16-18 – A young Hasidic Jewish man. Reb Saunders’ son and heir to his dynasty. A brilliant scholar with a photographic memory and a deep interest in Freud and psychoanalysis. Torn between his duty to his father and his own ideas about how to live his life.
