The loveable main character bounces between deprecating self-doubt and buoyant optimism. Charlie Brown has an admirable commitment to do his best against all odds; he can’t win a ballgame but continues playing baseball, can’t successfully fly a kite, but continues trying. Dominated by insecurities, this lovable “blockhead” is good-natured, thoughtful, and vulnerable. Strong actor and singer. Bari-tenor - B-flat2 to F4. Audition Song – “The Kite”
Charlie Brown’s eccentric, argumentative, and loveable younger sister. Despite her charming innocence, Sally is noticeably intelligent for her age. Her emotions vary from skeptic angst to infectious hopefulness. She has a crush on Linus. Strong singer/actor/comedienne. Soprano/mezzo belt - B3 to A-flat5. Audition Song – “My New Philosophy”
The thumb-sucking, blanket-dependent younger brother to Lucy, and Charlie Brown’s best friend. Unusually smart for his age, Linus is the philosopher of the group. While his juvenile innocence is apparent, his intelligence and sensitivity make him the most mature of the bunch. Strong singing, acting, and good movement skills. Baritone/tenor - B-flat2 to E4. Audition Song – “My Blanket and Me”
Lucy is opinionated, sometimes crabby, outspoken and self-confident. Lucy is a young entrepreneur, offering amateur psychiatric advice for five cents. While she does bully both Charlie Brown and her younger brother Linus, her compassion shines through (even though she can be misguided and harsh in her attempts to help.) She has a strong, unrequited crush on Schroeder. Strong actor/singer with a great sense of comic timing. Mezzo/alto belt - G3 to Fsharp5. Audition Song - “Schroeder”
Charlie Brown’s dog. Imaginative, needy, and joyous, Snoopy is more human than a dog. His affection, attentiveness, and weighted stares are all tactics for satisfying his own needs. A physically nimble actor with innovation and strong comic timing. Tenor/baritone - C3-A4. Audition Song – “Suppertime”
Schroeder is distinguished by his precocious piano-playing skill. A serious musician, he has an intense admiration for the composer Ludwig van Beethoven. Schroeder is kind, pragmatic, and a good friend. Lucy shows him great affection, which he tolerates but does not return. Strong actor/singer. Ability to play piano a plus, but not mandatory; high baritone/tenor, B-flat2 to A-flat4. Audition Song – “Beethoven Day”
