"The Color Purple" Seeks Kids & Teens

Currently holding auditions for "The Color Purple" and are looking for actors aged 10-17 years old. Please review the following information: ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the Project: Our production is based on Alice Walker's renowned 1982 novel, "The Color Purple." The story spans 35 years in the life of Celie, a teenage African-American girl living in Georgia. She is given away by her abusive stepfather to an even more abusive husband. Despite her daily struggles as a servant in her own home and being cut off from her loved ones, Celie holds onto hope that she will one day reunite with her sister Nettie and her children, thanks to her stepfather, Adam, and Olivia. Throughout the years, Celie, growing increasingly disillusioned, finds ways to cope with life: she discovers a potential lover in the fabulous Shug Avery, a friend in her stepson's wife Sofia, and a passion for creating stretchable pants that turns into a thriving business. Through her challenging journey, Celie learns that her resilience is her greatest strength, and no matter what life throws at her, she perseveres. Additional Information: Preparation: Prepare a 60-second gospel song for your audition. If you're interested in participating in a group vocal warm-up, please arrive promptly at 10:00 AM on Saturday the 23rd or at 6:00 PM on Sunday the 24th.
