Seeking Teenagers for "Noises Off" Play
Audition for "Noises Off" Play. Actors 16+ are encouraged to audition. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Called “the funniest farce ever written,” Noises Off presents manic amalgamations of actors rehearsing a British farce called Nothing’s On to take out on tour. Slamming doors, backstage antics, showmances, and sardines! Noises Off has it all. Additional info: Please bring an actor's resume and headshot to be submitted to the production team. All those auditioning should be prepared to explore cold reads with sides from the show as well as participate in some improvisational exercises. Rehearsals will begin on November 6th and will be held primarily on Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday evenings from 6:00-9:00 PM. *Not all actors cast will be called to every rehearsal. The schedule may vary. Tech week will run from Sunday, January 7 – to Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Performance dates include: Jan. 10, 2024 @ 7:30 PM Jan. 11, 2024 @ 7:30 PM Jan. 14, 2024 @ 2 PM Attendance is required for all tech week dates and performance dates set forth. (Off stage Character: Belinda): Cheerful and sensible. One of the only reliable actors in the company. She may have feelings for Freddy. (On Stage Character: Flavia Brent): Phillip Brent's English wife. She is dependable, though not one for household duties.
Stage Manager. Emotional and over-sensitive, and envious of Brooke, whom she understudies. One-third of a Lloyd-Poppy-Brooke love triangle.
The director of the play, Nothing On. A seasoned thespian working with "amateurs". His patience draws thin to the point where he mutters outloud internal thoughts. One third of a Lloyd–Poppy–Brooke love triangle.
(Off stage Character: Garry) The play's leading man, a solid actor who is completely incapable of finishing a sentence unless it is dialogue. Mean's well but is a little pretentious. (On Stage Character: Roger): An English Real estate agent who is attempting to rent Flavia's and Phillip's home, but uses it for his own personal benefit.
(Off stage Character: Freddy) A bit skittish and afraid of violence. Well-meaning, but lacks some self confidence and is rather dim-witted. Often questions the meaning of his lines and moves. Blames himself often for things going wrong. (On Stage Character: Phillip Brent): An Englishman who lives out of the country with his wife Flavia to avoid paying taxes. He enters the country knowing that if he is caught by Inland Revenue, he will lose most of the year's income.
(Off Stage Character: Selsdon Mowbray): An elderly alcoholic Englishman who may or may not have had a successful acting career at one point. He hides his bottles cleverly onstage. He is hard of hearing... when he wants to be. (On Stage Character: Burglar): Old Cockney man in his seventies, breaking into the Brent's home.
The over-worked and easily flustered Stage Manager who wears too many hats in this production.
