About the project: Logline: “When a troubled Chinese-Canadian boy is suspended from school, he spends the week can-collecting with his oddball immigrant grandma, a kindred outcast who shows him that, sometimes, it's okay to cry". Lead actor. Chinese-Canadian; speaks English. Description: Ben, a young Chinese-Canadian boy, struggles with expressing his emotions, often resulting in physical altercations. As the only child of a single immigrant mother, Ben is hyper-aware of not adding to his mother's struggles. He is deeply perceptive yet burdened by his circumstances, causing him to be suspicious and wary of authority figures.
