David never stands up for Dogboy, even though they're friends.
Dogboy is deeply protective of himself, as if he’s always afraid of getting hurt. He always keeps his guard up, and despite wanting to foster deep connections, he doesn’t quite understand how to get them. Throughout the film, Dogboy overcomes these feelings of resentment.
David always follows the crowd, and although he feels strongly about what’s right and wrong, finds it difficult to act on his own opinions and thoughts surrounded with his peers.
