Kids and Teens Needed for "A Christmas Carol" Show

About the project: A Christmas Carol is about a capitalist, miserly old man who learns the true meaning of Christmas. One Christmas Eve in mid-1800s England, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old business partner and then by three Christmas spirits. They take him on a journey through time, teaching him that happiness is found in charity towards others. Rate: All roles are open and unpaid. Additional info: Teens – You will be asked to present a contemporary monologue no longer than 90 seconds and 16 bars of an acapella song. Holiday songs and prepared, memorized monologues are preferred. However, actors may bring a copy of a monologue to read, and the Stage will also have printed monologues available. Children (Ages 8-12) – You may come prepared with a 90-second monologue or read a short scene that the directors will provide with another actor. The director may have you perform a couple of different ways (ex. This time, pretend like you’re on the moon!) We would also like you to sing a little bit (about 30 seconds) of your favorite holiday song. You will be asked to sing by yourself first, and then the directors will split into groups to read the scenes. Callbacks by invitation will be on September 30th, 7 pm – 10 pm Note that children will not be asked to come to callbacks. Actors will need to complete the attached audition form and submit a resume and headshot, if available. Actors must note their conflicts throughout the rehearsal process and run of the show, December 11 – December 20, 2026. Rehearsals will typically be held four times a week, on both weeknights and weekends, depending on cast availability. Tech and dress rehearsals begin December 2nd and run through December 10th. Performances will run two weekends, December 11 – December 20. Performances will be on Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 PM. Sunday matinees will be at 2:00 PM. On Saturday, December 12th, there will be a matinee at 3:00 PM. On Saturday, December 17th, there will be a matinee at 3:00 PM and an evening show at 7:30 PM. Cast attendance is required at all rehearsals as called by the director and stage manager, unless a conflict has been previously indicated. Cast must be available for all tech and dress rehearsals, performances, and brush-ups. Mask policy and health considerations: Collaborators are required to wear a mask if they have been exposed to COVID-19 in the past week or are experiencing symptoms. Otherwise, masking is optional.
