VHS is a 45-minute, one-act, “synth-filled retelling of Charles Dickens's classic tale, set in the 1800s but with 1980s aesthetics (don't think too hard about it). Join miserly tycoon Ebeneezer Scrooge on a journey through the past, present, and future, and see if he has the capacity to change before it's too late.” Additional info: No Experience Needed: Whether you are a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the very first time, there is a place for you here. Auditioners 16+ should prepare measures 13-42 of “Bah Humbug.” Anyone interested in a named character should ALSO prepare the corresponding selection below. Auditioners may be asked to sing for additional characters. The omniscient storyteller who moves in and out of the action. Requires a large presence and large voice, features in every number.
The ghost of Scrooge’s former business partner. Returns from beyond the grave to warn him of his impending visit from three spirits and urge him to change before it’s too late.
The first spirit who guides Scrooge through his past. Aloof and matter of fact, concerned with events as they happened.
A high energy spirit who has one day to live and makes the most of it. Overflowing with the joy of Christmas and eager to share it with Scrooge.
A spirit of few words with a BIG voice. Shows Scrooge the future that awaits him if he refuses to change, and ushers in the climax of the show.
The youngest of the Cratchit children, small and sickly, but full of life considering his circumstances.
Bob and Emily’s 5 other children, to play 10-17.
