Singing Audition for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" Play
Looking for young singers to join "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." See more information below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Callbacks, if needed, will be held in the evening on Wednesday, October 7. Prepare a 1-minute cut (approximately 32 bars) of a musical theater song in the style of a holiday carol. Actors may be asked to read from a selection of short sides. Performances November 27 & 28 and December 3, 4 & 5 @ 7:30PM November 29 and December 6 @ 2:00 PM Please also hold the afternoons of November 28 and December 5 open in case we need to add a 2:00pm performance. Full company rehearsals will begin tentatively on October 19. Dress/Technical and Brush-up Rehearsals are November 22 – 25 and December 2. There will be no rehearsal on Thanksgiving. (baritone) – The narrator and storyteller who guides the audience through Rudolph’s adventure. Warm, humorous and engaging, Sam connects the various parts of the story.
(baritone) – The beloved, warm-hearted leader of the North Pole. Santa is initially caught up in the traditions and expectations of Christmas but ultimately recognizes Rudolph’s unique value.
(mezzo-soprano) – Santa’s spirited and caring wife. She often provides a practical perspective and encourages Santa to see beyond the North Pole’s traditions.
(baritone) – Rudolph’s father. Proud and protective, Donner initially struggles to accept Rudolph’s difference and worries about how it will affect his son.
(mezzo-sopranoy) – Rudolph’s mother. Loving and supportive, she is more accepting of Rudolph and provides a strong parental presence.
(tenor) – A young reindeer born with a glowing red nose. Sensitive and determined, Rudolph struggles to fit in before discovering that the very thing that makes him different can become his greatest strength.
(tenor) – An elf who doesn’t want to make toys. Dreaming of becoming a dentist instead, Hermey is an independent, lovable misfit who becomes Rudolph’s closest friend.
(baritone or mezzo-soprano) – A leader among Santa’s elves who helps oversee toy production and represents the traditional expectations placed on the elves.
(tenor or mezzo-sopranoy) – A confident young buck and Rudolph’s first friend at the Reindeer Games.
The reindeer coach responsible for training the young reindeer to fly. He is traditional and competitive, particularly when Rudolph’s nose disrupts the expected order.
(mezzo-soprano) – A kind and compassionate young doe who likes Rudolph for who he is. She offers encouragement and friendship when Rudolph feels like an outsider.
(baritone) – A larger-than-life prospector searching for silver and gold. Adventurous, eccentric and endlessly optimistic, Yukon becomes an ally to Rudolph and Hermey.
The imposing creature who lives on the island and frightens the other characters.
(baritone) – The ruler of the Island of Misfit Toys. Wise and dignified, he welcomes Rudolph and his friends and explains the plight of the unwanted toys.
