About the project: "Young & Lost" follows four teenagers, ages 13–14, who are growing up too fast and making reckless decisions while their families struggle to keep them on the right path. Their lives change forever when Rell, a 13-year-old boy, makes one impulsive decision that results in the death of 15-year-old Tariq. As Rell runs from the consequences, the entire group is forced to confront the reality of their choices, their friendships, and the streets they thought they understood. This story explores peer pressure, youth violence, family struggles, friendship, accountability, grief, and the consequences of growing up too fast. “They thought they were grown enough for the streets… until the streets gave them consequences they weren’t ready for.” Additional info: Anyone under 18 must have the permission and participation of a parent or legal guardian throughout the casting and production process. Lead Role. Quiet, emotionally guarded, angry, and impulsive. Rell often keeps his emotions bottled up until they explode. After one devastating decision changes multiple lives, he must face the consequences of his actions. Strong dramatic acting ability required.
Lead Role. Confident, outspoken, street-smart, and naturally takes charge of the group. Keon acts fearless but is dealing with problems of his own at home.
Lead Role. Tough, outspoken, quick-tempered, and fiercely loyal. Jaylah doesn’t like showing vulnerability, but underneath her attitude is a young girl dealing with more than people realize.
Lead Role. The softer and more impressionable member of the group. Dre often follows the others even when he knows they’re making the wrong decisions.
Supporting Role. An older teenager whose confrontation with Rell takes a tragic turn. This role includes emotionally intense material and simulated violence.
