"Elf" The Musical JR. Seeks Boys and Girls

Auditions for the upcoming production of ELF: THE MUSICAL, JR. The minimum age to audition is 8 years old, and the maximum age is 18. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Additional info: Singing: Auditionees over 10 years old should prepare 12–16 bars of a song. We STRONGLY recommend you select from the musical theatre repertoire. Each auditionee must bring 2 copies of single-sided sheet music. No “a cappella” auditions (auditions without accompaniment) will be heard. KCT provides live accompaniment. Do NOT choose a song from the show. Highlight or clearly mark the section of the music you will sing. To prepare a full piano-vocal score (not a lead sheet) for an audition, it’s often useful (not required) to place clean, single-sided or double-sided copies in a 1-inch three-ring binder, with your cut clearly marked using a bright highlighter and bold signposts. Actors 10 and under will receive special instructions after they make an audition appointment. Songs will be evaluated on pitch, strength of volume, tone, clearness of diction, depth of emotional expression, and ability to act while singing. Songs from musical theatre are highly preferred. Acting: Prepare a short, one-minute monologue from a play or novel. The monologue should express intense emotion and a theatrical level of expression. The play’s genre is Musical Comedy. Choose an appropriate monologue with rich emotional range. No songs or poems. Please, no monologues from films or television shows. REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE INFORMATION Please bring your calendars to auditions. All actors will be asked to list all conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. The director will make every attempt to work around conflicts whenever possible. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, October 12, and continue through Thursday, December 3. Rehearsals are held on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. Thanksgiving Break: No rehearsal November 24–28. Actors should expect to attend most rehearsals. Mandatory Tech Rehearsals: Tech 1: Monday, November 23 Tech 2: Sunday, November 29 Tech 3: Monday, November 30 Tech 4: Wednesday, December 2 Tech 5: Thursday, December 3 Actors must also be available for all 20 regular performances, December 4–20, including weekday school performances.
