About the project: When Stanley Yelnats is sent to Camp Green Lake for a crime he didn’t commit, he and the other boys are forced to dig holes every day under the blazing sun. But there’s more to the camp—and to Stanley’s family history—than meets the eye. As friendships form and long-buried secrets begin to surface, Stanley discovers that courage, friendship, and fate may be connected. Additional info: Auditioners will read from the script and may be asked to perform a short cold read or improvisation. No preparation needed. The script is attached. A kind, unlucky teenage boy who is wrongly sent to Camp Green Lake. He becomes stronger, more confident, and loyal to Zero.
A quiet, intelligent boy at Camp Green Lake. He is often underestimated by the others but becomes Stanley’s closest friend. His connection to the Zeroni family curse is important to the story.
The strict and intimidating authority figure at Camp Green Lake. She orders the boys to dig holes because she is searching for something buried in the dried-up lake.
One of the camp counselors. He is harsh, impatient, and responsible for supervising the boys. He often clashes with Stanley.
Another counselor at the camp. He presents himself as helpful but frequently insults or belittles the boys, especially Zero.
The informal leader of the boys at Camp Green Lake. He is manipulative and uses Stanley to help him take credit for finding a mysterious object.
One of the larger, tougher boys at camp. He is part of the group that follows X-Ray.
