Teen Talent Audition for "The Wolves" Play
ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. Seeking performers ages 15+ for "The Wolves" play. Please, see the details below. About the play: "The Wolves" is a sharp and witty exploration of adolescence, taking the audience into the world of a varsity girls soccer team. In between games and warmups, the team navigates discussions of periods and interpersonal drama alongside serious conversations about the world they are set to inherit. As tension begins to rise, and cracks form in the surface of team morale, all seems lost, especially with the unexpected tragedy of losing a team member. Nevertheless, the Wolves show what it means to really be a team, and to come together in the face of grief and loss to play their final game. 10 roles
LEAD ROLE. Any Race. The daughter of therapists, she enjoys philosophical and moral discussions, but often takes unsavoury, contradictory positions. A bit of an elitist.
Any Race. A bit of a nerd, she pretends to be dumber than she is to fit in. Dreams of going to, of all places, Miami.
Any Race. Goalie. A deeply anxious yet extremely high performing individual in all areas. Can usually be seen throwing up before a game.
AFAB, Any Race. Defense. Deeply religious and very kind, she struggles with an eating disorder and a lack of knowledge outside her insular bubble. Has near constant concussions.
AFAB. Any Race. Midfield. She enjoys being unpredictable and zany but can often be off-putting or a little too weird for her team. A total stoner.
Any Race. Defense. Your quintessential team captain. Mirrors her father, the ex-coach, through her competitiveness and her leadership of the team, but this similarity can sometimes be to the detriment of both her and the other girls. #25 must have a partially or fully shaved head in scene 6. Arrangements will be made with the actor as part of casting and hair and makeup discussions.
SUPPORTING ROLE. AFAB. Any Race. Striker. Jaded and sarcastic, her disillusionment with the world leads her to act rebelliously to prove her maturity, which tends to backfire. Suffers an injury that limits her ability to play the rest of the season.
SUPPORTING ROLE. Central Asian. Bench. The new girl who struggles to integrate herself into the group. Well-travelled yet homeschooled, feels the weight of her differences.
SUPPORTING ROLE. Can be cast as broadly POC, as the script does not specify her ethnicity. Is the only character that cannot be gender-diverse, to avoid negative stereotypical depictions.
SUPPORTING ROLE. Half-Armenian. Midfield. SUPPORTING ROLE. #7’s sidekick, who struggles to define herself outside of #7’s shadow. After a ski trip gone wrong, her growing frustrations with her best friend hit a breaking point.
