About the project: Young filmmaker Maya becomes dangerously obsessed with uncovering the real cause behind the decline and sudden death of her classmate, Asher Grey. Before his death, Asher believed his social media profile was a modern version of Dorian Gray’s portrait. Maya begins investigating whether he was destroyed by severe mental illness—or whether something much darker was responsible. Manic, ritualistic, lonely, and obsessed with digital immortality, Asher sees himself as a modern heir to Dorian Gray.
A filmmaker and former classmate who becomes the obsessive archivist of Asher’s life and death. Analytical, persistent, exhausted, and increasingly unstable, Maya searches her footage for evidence that might explain what happened to him—while beginning to fear that the same force may now be targeting her.
