"Last Day Of Childhood" Casting Call
Looking for two young actors as the leads to the upcoming student drama short film, Last Day of Childhood. The film follows Massimo, a shy, fragile young boy who is adamant about spending the day with his best friend Nico. The boys cloud watch, go to the park, steal from a candy store, go back to Nico's house, and reflect on their lives as young boys living in the early 2000s. The difference between the boys however, is that to Nico, this is just an ordinary play date with his best friend, however to Massimo, this is an escape. An escape from a difficult reality that he wants none other than to avoid having to face. One that will be the end of his childhood. This is an unpaid, student production that will be shooting in mid to late October for 4 days. Actors must commit to all of the consecutive shoot dates, and will be provided with food and reimbursement for gas expenses. The film will later be submitted to multiple festivals, and actors will receive screeners upon completion.

Massimo comes off as shy and fragile at first sight, however is actually very layered and has secrets and knowledge that he hides under a mask. The role will include a heavy amount of dialogue, some comedic, however mostly serious, and the actor must be able to believably deliver an emotional monologue that will include tears and breaking down. We also hope to cast a young actor who will feel confident enough to take direction and ask questions, as well as work professionally with others.
Nico is a very confident, comedic and light-hearted character. He holds a very important role in the film, contrasting the security and happiness he feels in life compared to Massimo. The actor must be able to confidently convey a warm and funny child through dialogue and physical mannerisms, however also has the ability to deliver dramatic acting when necessary. The actor is encouraged to feel comfortable enough on set to ask questions and take direction, as well as work well with others.
