About the project: The story follows six neighborhood friends spending an ordinary summer evening playing basketball, joking around, and challenging each other. When a dare leads them inside a house with a disturbing history, their joking bravado quickly disappears as they realize something may already be inside with them. Grounded in a real childhood memory, Figures of the Dark is a story about friendship, childhood fear, and the things the directors convince themselves aren't real. GENRE: Supernatural / Slow-Burn Horror SETTING: Summer 1998 Rate: Unpaid/independent production. Actors do not need to be the exact age of the characters, as long as they can believably play within the age range. Prior acting experience is welcome but not required. Particularly interested in young performers who can deliver natural, believable performances and work well as part of an ensemble. LEAD Thoughtful, somewhat shy, and sensitive. David wants to prove to his friends that he isn't scared, especially because it's his house they're entering. As the night progresses, he ends up carrying something he doesn't tell the others. Looking for an actor capable of communicating fear and internal conflict without relying entirely on dialogue. David and Antonio are best friends.
LEAD/SUPPORTING. The oldest and physically bigger/taller member of the group. Jerry naturally assumes he's the leader and tries to appear mature and unbothered, which makes it even more noticeable when that confidence begins to crack. Loud and confident but still considerate of the others. Longer hair is a plus but not required. Ethnicity is open; physical/personality fit is more important.
LEAD/SUPPORTING Athletic, charismatic and quick-witted. Antonio loves messing with his friends and keeps the group laughing with playful trash talk. He's animated, expressive and naturally cool without trying to be the leader. He is Arty's older brother and David's best friend.
SUPPORTING Antonio's younger brother. Observant, direct and often the first person willing to say out loud what everyone else is thinking. Naturally bigger/taller for his age preferred. Arty isn't timid—he tends to speak before thinking, but never maliciously.
LEAD/SUPPORTING Latino preferred, but not a hard requirement. Skinny/scrawny build preferred. The group's class clown and instigator. Peter pushes the dares, cracks jokes when things become uncomfortable, and wants everyone to see him as fearless and cool. When he actually becomes frightened, his instinct isn't to admit it—it's to double down on the act. Looking for someone with strong comedic timing, expressive body language and confidence.
SUPPORTING Latino preferred, but not a hard requirement. Skinny/athletic build preferred. Henry desperately wants to prove himself and especially wants Peter's approval. He talks a big game about not being afraid, but when the situation becomes genuinely frightening, he's the member of the group least capable of keeping that performance together. This role requires a performer capable of moving from playful bravado into genuine emotional fear.
