About the project: A Midsummer Night's Dream is a romantic comedy by William Shakespeare about four young lovers, a group of amateur actors, and magical fairies who get mixed up in a mystical forest. Set in late 1940s Los Angeles, this is a world of Hollywood glamour, social expectations, and romantic fantasy that explores how love is unpredictable, irrational, and often confusing. It’s wild, full of high energy, and absolutely hilarious! Additional info: 1. Please prepare ONE Shakespearean monologue. It can be from any Shakespeare play, though options from Midsummer are provided below. You do not need to have it fully memorized, but you should be well rehearsed and make bold yet believable character choices. Try to figure out exactly what you’re saying. 2. Please bring a resume and a current photograph or headshot, if you have one. 3. Callbacks on September 10th will be by invitation only and will consist of cold readings from the script.
