About the project: Single mother Doris Walker, who works at Macy’s, doesn’t want her young daughter, Susan, believing in fairy tales. Their neighbor, Fred Gailey, hopes to win Doris’s heart by encouraging Susan to embrace the wonder of childhood. When Susan meets Kris Kringle, the Macy’s Santa who insists he is the real Santa Claus, their lives begin to change. As Kris spreads joy and kindness throughout New York City, he inspires even the most skeptical hearts to believe. When his claim is challenged in court, Kris must prove his sanity and the very existence of Santa Claus. Based on the beloved Twentieth Century Fox motion picture, this enduring musical, first presented on Broadway in 1963 as Here’s Love, features Meredith Willson’s warm and memorable score in a celebration of faith, hope, and the magic of Christmas.
