About the project: Set in the late 1970s, 9 to 5: The Musical follows three very different office workers—Violet, Doralee, and Judy—who become unlikely friends after enduring the constant abuse, sexism, and manipulation of their egotistical boss, Franklin Hart, Jr. When an unexpected twist of fate places Hart temporarily out of the picture, the women take control of the office and transform it into a happier, more productive workplace. Along the way, they discover newfound confidence, friendship, and the courage to stand up for themselves while proving that respect, collaboration, and compassion can accomplish far more than intimidation ever could. Filled with Dolly Parton's unforgettable music, hilarious situations, and heartfelt moments, 9 to 5 is a celebration of friendship, perseverance, and finding your voice. Additional info: A song that best showcases your voice, in the style of the show (an accompanist will be provided). Rehearsals will start the week of August 17th.. There is a quick turn-around for this production.. The final rehearsal schedule will be determined based on cast availability. However, performers should plan to spend time outside of rehearsal preparing independently to ensure our time together is as productive as possible. Rehearsals will typically be held 3-4 times per week, including some weekends, leading up to tech week. Attendance at all casts’ technical and dress rehearsals is required.
