Description:

ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE CONSIDERED. Seeking teen boy for "The Lion in Winter" play. See the details below. About the project: Sibling rivalry, adultery, and dungeons – The Lion in Winter, by James Goldman, is a modern-day classic. Comedic in tone, dramatic in action – the play tells the story of the Plantagenet family, who are locked in a free-for-all of competing ambitions to inherit a kingdom. The queen, and wealthiest woman in the world, Eleanor of Aquitaine, has been kept in prison since raising an army against her husband, King Henry II. Let out only for holidays, the play centers around the inner conflicts of the royal family as they fight over both a kingdom and King Henry’s paramour during the Christmas of 1183. As Eleanor says, “Every family has its ups and downs,” and this royal family is no exception. This is a great small-ensemble show, with many plot twists and turns – almost a “medieval murder mystery” without the “murder.” First Read-Through: Sunday, September 13 Rehearsals: Sunday thru Thursday evenings (generally 7pm to 9:30) starting Sunday, September 13 Performances: Friday, October 30, 7:30pm Sunday, November 1, 2pm (note: no Sat. performance first week) Friday, November 6, 7:30pm Saturday, November 7, 7:30pm Sunday, November 8, 2pm closing matinee No preparation necessary. Audition will consist of cold readings from the script. The play is set in a fictional Christmas court of Henry II, King of England, at his castle in Chinon (France) in 1183.
