About the project: Anne of Green Gables is a beloved 1908 novel by Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, telling the story of Anne Shirley, a spirited, imaginative orphan mistakenly sent to live with elderly siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert on their Prince Edward Island farm, Green Gables, who wanted a boy but grew to love her instead. The book follows Anne's adventures, her vivid imagination, her friendships (like with Diana Barry), her rivalry with Gilbert Blythe, and her transformation of the Cuthberts and the community of Avonlea.
