About the project: Based on the beloved comic strip Little Orphan Annie, Annie tells the story of a brave, optimistic young orphan growing up in 1930s New York City. Despite hardship, loneliness, and life under the care of the bitter Miss Hannigan, Annie holds tightly to the belief that something better is possible. When Annie is invited to spend Christmas at the home of billionaire Oliver Warbucks, her life begins to change in unexpected ways. Along the way, she charms Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the hearts of audiences everywhere. Filled with unforgettable songs including “Maybe,” “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” “N.Y.C.,” and “Tomorrow,” Annie is a timeless celebration of hope, resilience, belonging, and the power of love. Vocal Range: A3-G5 A street-wise, resilient orphan with a giant heart and a voice to match. Annie is spunky, brave, funny, optimistic, and emotionally grounded. She has endured hardship but refuses to surrender hope. Must be a strong singer, actor, and mover with excellent stage presence and the ability to carry the emotional center of the production.
The girls of the orphanage with Annie. They are gritty, neglected, vulnerable, funny, tough, imaginative, and deeply loveable. Includes Molly, Kate, Tessie, Pepper, July, and Duffy. We are seeking strong young performers with excellent singing, acting, movement, and ensemble skills. Gymnastics, tumbling, dance, or strong physical theatre ability is a plus. The orphans must feel like real children, not caricatures. They should be full of spark, humor, longing, mischief, resilience, and heart.
