"Alice By Heart" Show Needs Kids and Teens

About the project: From the Tony and Grammy award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. As they travel through the tale, Alice by Heart explores the poignancy of first love, the process of coming to terms with loss, and the courage to move forward. This touching story encourages all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times. Rate: Non-paid. Additional info: All roles are non-union. PERFORMANCE DATES are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 3 PM, Opening on SEPTEMBER 18th and Closing on SEPTEMBER 27th. REHEARSALS will typically be held on Wednesday and Thursday from 7 pm-10 pm, and Sunday from 6 pm-10 pm, starting on July 1st. Tech week will begin on September 13th. A full rehearsal schedule will be created after casting is complete and conflicts are considered. Directors work hard to be efficient with actors’ time and conflicts. Callbacks, if necessary, will be by invitation only on SUNDAY, JUNE 28th, from 7 PM-10 PM. Callbacks will include a dance call, songs, and sides from the show. If you are unable to make callbacks, please let us know below. If interested, please apply. The first round of auditions will be by video submission only. You must submit your completed video by 11:59 PM on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24th. Your video submission should include two contrasting songs in the show's style, every 16 bars (or 30-45 seconds). Please have your audition video in the form of an unlisted YouTube link (or similar application).

Entering a confusing time of transition in her body while trying to survive a distressed situation — living in a tube station, displaced from her family. Possesses a wonderful imagination that allows her to escape her present situation.
Vocal range top: A4. Vocal range bottom: B2 Alice’s ailing childhood friend. Alfred contracted tuberculosis while living on the streets and is now being cared for by a small medical staff in the Underground station. Doubles as White Rabbit: Attractive, obsessive-compulsive, and a little manic – running from something he doesn’t understand. Strong contemporary pop/rock singing voice.
Vocal range top: D5. Vocal range bottom: Bb3 Smart; streetwise; has gravity. Rebellious, fearless, and has unwavering loyalty for Alice. Serves as Alice’s guide through Wonderland and through grief.
