Seeking Kids for "The Little Mermaid" Show
Looking for kids aged 10-17 years old for "The Little Mermaid" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World." Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea. Additional info: Children ages 10-17 will be considered along with adults. Vocals: Please be prepared to sing 32 bars (or 1 minute) of a song you have a lot of fun singing! It can be in the show's style or a song from the show. Singing a song from the show will not give you any advantage. You must bring sheet music in the correct key, clearly marked with start and finish times. No background tracks or a cappella singing. An accompanist will be provided. Acting: Please come prepared to read one of the provided monologues. Memorization is not required. You may also be asked to read another side or monologue from the show. Again, memorization is not required; directors just want you to have fun with it and add some character. Dance (in-person): Everyone will be required to learn choreography from the attached videos. There are 2 sections. You can choose to only dance the first part in person or both. However, we’d love for you to give both parts a go! Please wear comfortable clothing for movement and shoes that are most comfortable for you, whether sneakers, jazz shoes, or character heels. Please bring a completed copy of the attached audition form to your audition. There will be extra copies if you need one, but please arrive early to fill them out. Callbacks: Saturday, June 13th, by invitation, starting at 11 am. If interested, please apply.
