About the project: A stirring and Pulitzer-winning drama, Picnic takes place in the joint backyards of two widows during the Labor Day holiday in a small Kansas town in the 1950s, where the appearance of a handsome outsider upends their lives. One house belongs to Flo Owens, who lives there with her two daughters, Madge and Millie, along with a schoolteacher boarder. The other house belongs to Helen Potts, who lives with her elderly, invalid mother. When the young man named Hal Carter takes a shine to Madge, their sudden passion for each other disrupts the mundane routines of both houses, causing long-dormant desires to explode with ramifications of love and heartbreak that no one expects. Additional info: Auditioners will be asked to read scenes from the script. Please bring a full list of schedule conflicts through the production dates. Auditioners may attend both nights of auditions and will be guaranteed stage time on both nights. Attendance on both nights is not required. REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: The schedule will be made considering the performer's availability and needs. Performers will be called to select rehearsals pertinent to their roles. Great care will be given to limit rehearsals. Rehearsals may start at 7:00 PM, with possible earlier times on some Saturdays and Sundays.
