Vocal Range: Traditionally Tenor ● The narrator of the show, host of the Jellicle Ball, and young leader of the tribe. ● Young adult cat. Intense, energetic, brave and level-headed ● A featured singing cat requiring “character dancing” in featured songs. Will also dance in the ensemble. Ideally has a strong movement/dance background in jazz-theatre style dance ● Prominent Singing Parts In: The Naming of Cats, Gumbie Cat, Old Deuteronomy, Jellicle Ball, Pekes & Pollicles.

Vocal Range: Traditionally Mezzo ● The “outcast/anti-hero” of the tribe ● Desperate, wistful, a lost soul who is attempting to regain dignity and acceptance from the tribe that has shunned her. ● Dynamic and powerful vocal skills and strong acting/expression required. Must possess a wide dynamic vocal range with rich lower tones and strong belt up to Eb. ● Main Song: Memory

Vocal Range: Traditionally Alto ● The “intuitive cat” of the tribe who realizes Macavity’s deception ● Smart, young adult, but always on edge; jittery, and impulsive ● A featured singing cat requiring “character dancing” in featured songs. Will also dance in the ensemble. A strong dancer with background in jazz-theatre style dance ● Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, McCavity the Mystery Cat

Vocal Range: Traditionally: Baritone ● The “magician” of the tribe ● Clever, impish, neat, a competitive young adult show-off of a cat. ● Dance style highlights: Advanced ballet skills a plus; role will require jumps and turns, bright and electric quality, fun, larger than life personality and very energetic. Will also dance in the ensemble. ● Featured dance number: Magical Mistoffelees

Vocal Range: Traditionally Mezzo ● Elegant, graceful, curious, uninhibited ● Advanced ballet skills and artistry are preferred for this role. This role will require strong adagio solo work. One of the cats who empathizes with Grizabella. Dancers with strong technical skills in ballet and jazz dance are encouraged to audition. Will also dance in the ensemble. ● Featured dance number: Jellicle Ball

Vocal Range: Typically Baritone ● One half of the notorious “cat burglar” duo with Rumpleteazer. ● Mischievous, fun-loving prankster, small-time crook who enjoys being naughty. ● A “triple-threat” role. A featured singing and dancing cat with a dedicated song requiring strong acrobatic skills and clown-like characterization. Must be a strong vocalist and dancer/acrobat ● Main Song: Mungojerrie & Rumpleteazer

Vocal Range: Traditionally Alto ● One half of the notorious “cat burglar” duo with Mungojerrie. ● Mischievous, fun-loving prankster, small-time crook who enjoys being naughty. Known for infectious giggle. ● A “triple-threat” role. A featured singing and dancing cat with a dedicated song requiring strong acrobatic skills and clown-like characterization. Must be a strong vocalist and dancer/acrobat ● Main Song: Mungojerrie & Rumpleteazer

Cocky, flirtatious, charismatic with wild anarchic energy ● A featured singing cat requiring “character dancing” in featured songs. Will also dance in the ensemble. Ideally has a strong movement/dance background in jazz-theatre style dance ● Requires a strong “rock” vocal quality and falsetto ● Main Songs: Rum Tum Tugger, Magical Mr. Mistoffelees, Old Deuteronomy

Goofy, nurturing, a bossy “do-gooder” ● A featured singing cat requiring “character dancing” in featured songs. Will also dance in the ensemble. Ideally has a strong movement/dance background in TAP and jazz-theatre style dance ● Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Bustopher Jones

Vocal Range: Typically Baritone or Tenor ● The “railway cat” in the tribe ● Spunky, meticulous, fun-loving and very animated ● A featured singing cat requiring “character dancing”. Will also dance in the ensemble. Ideally has a strong movement/dance background in *tap* and jazz-theatre style dance ● Main Song: Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat

Traditionally Baritone or Tenor ● The “aristocrat” of the tribe ● Pompous, stuffy, loves to flaunt their status ● A featured singing cat with strong “character voices” and ability to sing “mock opera”. This character track does not require a strong movement/dance background and does not have to dance in the ensemble.

Vocal Range: Traditionally Soprano ● The “care-taker” of the tribe ● Warm, protective adult cat; a “busybody” who likes to parent the kittens and keep order ● Featured singing cat requiring “character dancing” in featured songs. Will also dance in the ensemble. A strong dancer with background in jazz-theatre style dance ● Main Songs: Gumbie Cat, Bustopher Jones, Gus the Theatre Cat

Vocal Range: Traditionally “bright” Soprano ● The “baby” of the tribe. ● Youngest kitten. Innocent, sweet, affectionate, full of “childlike wonder” and playful ● A jazz/theatre-style dancing cat with some significant featured singing lines. Will dance in the ensemble. ● Main Singing Part: Prelude & Reprise of Memory

Vocal Range: Traditionally Tenor/Baritone ● The “mystery cat” antagonist of the tribe. ● Aggressive, intense, violent, menacing young adult cat. ● A looming presence and malevolent criminal mastermind who enjoys breaking the law—inspired by Professor Moriarty-- Sherlock Holmes’ Nemesis. ● Dance style highlights: an imposing figure able to dance with brash, explosive movement. Kicks, jumps and lift work are an asset. ● Featured dance number: Macavity’s Fight
