On a stormy night in Bellarica, Mexico, two baby girls are born – one into outlandish wealth, and one into a life of poverty. When the newborns are swapped by a ruthless ex-beauty queen, the stage is set for two outrageous misfortunes to grow into an extraordinary destiny. Karen Zacarías' hilarious hit, Destiny of Desire, has everything you love about telenovelas, while bursting with Brechtian interludes, Shakespearian-style antics, and live music - even if you’ve never watched a telenovela, you’ll know why it’s one of the most popular forms of storytelling on the planet. Rate: LORT Non-Rep $1453 weekly minimum (LORT A) Additional info: Casting Note: The actors are both the elegant EPIC ENSEMBLE that employ Brechtian techniques of Quotes and Titles and songs, and they are the Aristotelian heartbreaking Characters of “Destiny of Desire”. Audition lunch 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. All roles will be understudied. PREPARATION: 2 short (1-minute) contrasting monologues or 1 (2-minute) monologue, preferably from a published play OR 1 short monologue and one song in the style of the production. An accompanist will be provided. Also, bring your picture and resume, stapled together. EPA Procedures are in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will be provided.
