About the project: SYNOPSIS: What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck is a witty, deeply personal, and politically urgent exploration of the U.S. Constitution through the lens of lived experience. The play follows a version of Schreck herself as she revisits her teenage years touring the country giving competitive speeches about the Constitution to earn college money. Blending memoir, debate, and theatrical storytelling, she interrogates how this foundational document has shaped — and often failed — the lives of women across generations, including her own family. By the end, the play transforms into a live constitutional debate, asking whether this centuries-old framework can truly serve a modern, evolving democracy.
