(tenor) – Bright, cheery and always optimistic. Positivity is his most significant trait. Always labeled “a simple sponge”, he wants to prove that he’s good enough to be the hero and save Bikini Bottom from the deadly volcano.
(tenor) – SpongeBob’s simple-minded Starfish best friend. Bumbling and clueless but loveable. Everyone treats him like he’s dumb and lazy. He just wants someone to take him seriously and listen to what he has to say.
(baritone/tenor, male-identified, any ethnicity) – Pearl’s father is the greedy owner of the Krusty Krab Diner.
(mezzo-soprano) – A brainy and athletic Texan squirrel who came to Bikini Bottom for a research project. SpongeBob’s most trusted ally in the quest to stop the deadly volcano. Uses her vast knowledge and brilliant inventions to aid the mission.
(baritone/tenor) – The main villain. A microscopic creature personified onstage by an actor occasionally using a tiny “plankton puppet”. The scheming owner of the Chum Bucket who has plans for world domination.
(baritone) – SpongeBob and Patrick’s cranky, clarinet-playing neighbor. Has a gloomy outlook on life, believing the world is a horrible place filled with despair; but nonetheless dreams of becoming a famous stage star for the sake of his late mother and is willing to do anything to achieve his big break.
(mezzo-soprano) – Plankton’s wife. A waterproof supercomputer. Personified by an actor in glasses and a secretary-type metalic outfit who occasionally wheels around a prop of her true “computer self” to remind us that she is a computer.
A muscular Lobster who eventually becomes the Mayor’s bodyguard.
SpongeBob’s teacher at Boating School. Has a very negative outlook on the impending doom of Bikini Bottom, pointing out all the setbacks and believing only the worst will come to pass.
A cranky old fish who leads an angry mob against Sandy for being a land creature, blaming her for the impending volcano eruption.
(baritone/tenor) – The Pirate President of the SpongeBob Fan Club. Eager to see his idol in this Broadway Musical. Sets up his very own VIP seat right in the front of the stage before getting booted out by security guards.
(mezzo-soprano) – Mr. Krab’s teenage whale daughter. Even though her Father spoils her, she deeply detests his greed and wants him to prioritize his family, not his profits.
(bass) – Head anchor of Bikini Bottom News TV broadcast. Keeps everyone up to date on the impending doom of the Mount Humongous eruption.
(mezzo-soprano) – The overbearing Mayor of Bikini Bottom. Has no solution to the impending eruption of Mount Humongous, so she goes from incompetence to psychosis and tyranny.
