"Oklahoma the Musical" Needs Teens
Seeking ages 16 and up for "Oklahoma the Musical". Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly, a charming cowboy, and Laurey, a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie and hapless Will Parker in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land. Additional info: Your appointment will consist of: Your song Vocal Range check with David Cold reading from sides (no memorization required; paper copies provided) (During the last ten minutes or so of the hour) Learning choreography – directors strongly encourage you to learn as much as possible ahead of time. You may sing a song from the show or in the style of the time (think Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, etc.). Showcase your strengths in about 60 seconds. The music director will accompany on the piano. Sheet music is preferred, but you may bring a track if needed. Wear whatever you prefer, but be prepared to move. You may bring a change of clothes or wear something comfortable from the start. Callbacks: Monday, April 20th at 6:00 PM at the LCC. When do rehearsals start? What is the schedule? (Tentative, subject to change after casting) First read-through: April 25 Rehearsals: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 6:30–9:00 PM If you cannot attend the read-through, you can still be cast.
