About the project: A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare is a whimsical comedy about love, magic, and mistaken identity. The story weaves together four young lovers from Athens, a group of amateur actors rehearsing a play, and a mischievous band of fairies living in an enchanted forest. When the lovers flee into the woods, they become entangled in a magical feud between the fairy king and queen. With the help (and interference) of the playful sprite Puck, spells are cast that cause people to fall in and out of love in hilarious and unexpected ways. Meanwhile, the bumbling actors prepare a performance that adds even more humor to the tale. Rate: Non-Union | Unpaid Additional info: Friday, April 24— 5:00–7:00 PM (Call Backs 7-9pm) Auditions may consist of cold readings from the script, so no preparation is required. However, you are welcome to prepare a 1–3 minute monologue or spoken piece of your choice. This may be from a play, poem, or other memorized text that showcases your voice, character work, and storytelling ability. In addition, auditioners are encouraged to share any special talents they may have (such as singing, movement, instruments, accents, stage combat, or other unique skills). These are optional but highly welcomed and may be incorporated into the production.
