"Hairspray" Musical Needs Teen Performers
Looking for talent ages 12 and up for "Hairspray" Musical. Please see the details below. About the project: Get ready to dance the night away with Hairspray! This irresistible, feel-good musical is set in Baltimore in 1962 and tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto TV and into the heart of teen idol Link Larkin. Tracy’s audition makes her a local star, and she quickly uses her newfound fame to fight for integration. But can she win equality — and Link’s heart — without denting her “do?” Hairspray is a winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical! Additional info: Actors are asked to arrive and to sign in within the first hour of the audition start time. Please prepare to sing a brief (32 measures) musical theatre song or a similar style of your choosing. Please bring sheet music in the appropriate key or a karaoke track. An accompanist will be provided. Also, prepare a brief monologue no longer than 1 ½ minutes. Everyone in Hairspray must be able to move, so there will be a dance audition.
