About the project: Michael qualifies for a regional track meet a few hours away from his home in Missouri. Money is tight, but his recently divorced mother, Joy, decides it is important enough to Michael and the family to travel to the track meet. The night before the meet, they sleep in the car outside the stadium. During the night, a police officer comes up to them, sees they are sleeping in their car, and ultimately decides to let them stay. In the morning, Michael competes in the track meet. He qualifies for the national track meet, which will take place in Florida, but throws away the flyer with the information before Joy sees it. Additionla info: A talented young track runner is prevented from achieving his goals because of his socioeconomic status.
