About the project: A powerful, dance-infused piece about whether to hold on to dreams or face reality in an ever-evolving, ruthless world. It’s 1959, and the new musical West Side Story is a smash hit on Broadway. In their tiny family apartment in the San Juan Hill neighborhood of Manhattan, the young Candelaria siblings dream of glamorous careers in show business. When the opportunity arises to audition for roles in the film version of West Side Story itself, all their dreams seem poised to come true – until a neighborhood-wide eviction abruptly threatens everything they have worked for. Wells St, Milwaukee, WI 53202 PREPARATION For non-musical auditions: Please prepare 1 Classic and 1 Contemporary Monologue. For musical auditions: Please prepare a brief cut of a song and 1 Classic or Contemporary Monologue. Audition material should not exceed 3 minutes total. Please bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. Also, please bring your current headshot and resume. An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.
