Young Talent Wanted for Upcoming Audition "Romeo & Juliet"
Calling young performers! Audition for the timeless classic “Romeo & Juliet.” Full details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: Set in a vibrant, sun-drenched seaside town inspired by early-2000s beach culture and Mediterranean coastal aesthetics, this reimagining of Romeo & Juliet places Shakespeare’s iconic lovers inside a world of rival social circles, seaside parties, balconies, neon accents, and youthful recklessness — where reputation, loyalty, and passion collide. While the visual world is modern and contemporary, Shakespeare’s original language will be preserved. The production blends classical text with a physical environment that feels immediate, romantic, and emotionally accessible to today’s audiences. The world of the play will feel coastal, romantic, and distinctly Mediterranean, subtly winking at the story’s roots as an almost–Greek tragedy: fate-driven, heightened, and inevitable. Warm textures, layered architecture, and open communal spaces create a beautiful environment that stands in stark contrast to the violence and division underneath. At its core, this is a story about first love, identity, impulsivity, and the devastating cost of inherited hatred — told through a bold, youthful lens while honoring the timelessness of Shakespeare’s play.
