Casting Child Actors for "The Hobbit" Play
Auditions for the production of "The Hobbit". Looking for actors ages 7+. Please see the breakdown below. About the project: Show Synopsis: Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for rousing adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are definitely not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the wizard knocks at Bilbo’s door, bringing with him Thorin Oakenshield, 11 ragged looking dwarfs and a contract for an adventure to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested—at first. But Bilbo’s love of a good story gets the better of him, and before he knows it, he is off on a perilous quest over mountain and under hill through caves and forest and slimy dark places. Additional info: Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script. Sides available. All roles are open to any auditioner. No one is guaranteed a role. Callbacks - If needed and invitation only - March 3rd @ 4:30 pm. Show Info: This show is a part of School Matinee Series. Those auditioning do not need to be at every show. Shows will be double cast. If the auditioner can’t be at every show they are required to be at at least half. You can note the amount of shows you can be at at auditions. Show dates: School shows: April 29th - May 1st and May 6th - 7th All school shows are @ 9am and 11:30 am Public shows: May 2nd & May 9th @ 2pm If you are interested, please apply.

A Hobbit. He is a laid back gentleman, a fish out of water in the show. However, he surprises the audience and himself by his resourcefulness throughout the adventure. Driven not by greed or power but for what is right.
A Wizard. A trickster sorcerer who sees the potential in Bilbo and calls him to adventure. He serves as an advisor to the characters in the show.
Leader of the Dwarves. He is driven by his birthright to reclaim what was taken from him and can, in that drive, put others at risk to achieve his goal.
A Nocturnal Creature who has been driven mad and given a long life by the Ring of Power. He has dwelled in the caves of the Misty Mountains for over a century. Will kill without thought and do anything for his precious.
A Dragon who is greedy and evil. He has conquered the Lonely Mountain and its treasure from the Dwarves. Powerful. Voice only.
Humans. Men who become leaders of Laketown who stand up to Smaug and Thorin
