"My First Smartphone" Feature Film Seeks Families

Casting Nationwide! Are you planning to buy your child their FIRST SMARTPHONE? Documentary feature film seeking families. See the details below. About the project: Directors are looking for parents in the USA who are considering purchasing a phone for their child (8 yrs - 14 yrs) in the early 2026 to participate in a moment when kids receive their first smartphones from their families. The film will follow four families before, during, and after their child receives their first phone (phone will be provided). Directors are interested in families who represent a wide range of viewpoints about smartphones. Whether you are apprehensive about technology or a devoted digital enthusiast, they would love to hear from your family if there is a FIRST PHONE for your child coming into view. Rate: Brand New iPhone or Android phone (exact model TBD) Families will receive a fee of $2500 for the use of the footage captured by the smartphone in the finished film. Families do not pay anything - this rate is paid to you if selected to film. There is no payment for submitting/auditioning/filling out this application. Additional info: -Parental figures are planning to give their child their first phone in the Spring of 2026 (sometime either in March / April / May) -Families agree to use the First Phone app and phone provided by production during the filming which will document the child's usage. Parents will review the footage prior to releasing it to the filmmakers PRE-PHONE LIFE: Filming the family: 1 week per family before the phone NEW-PHONE LIFE | PHONE USAGE: Scheduled & coordinated times throughout the month The production will collaborate with each family for a filming schedule during the month of production Phone App will document all phone usage throughout the month It's okay if some teens have an older sibling that already has a phone Parents will have access to review recorded footage before post-production If you are interested, please apply no later than Monday, March 2, 2026 BY 4:00 PM PST.
