Seeking teen girl for "The Glass Menagerie" play. See the details below. About the project: Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie is a poignant memory play about family, dreams, and the painful tension between illusion and reality. Set in a small St. Louis apartment during the 1930s, the story is narrated by Tom Wingfield, who looks back on his youth living with his domineering mother Amanda and his fragile, painfully shy sister Laura. Amanda, abandoned years earlier by her husband, clings to memories of her Southern belle past and is determined to secure a future for Laura, whose physical disability and extreme anxiety keep her isolated from the world. Amanda pressures Tom, who longs to escape his monotonous warehouse job and pursue a life of adventure and writing, to bring home a “gentleman caller” for Laura. When Tom finally invites his coworker Jim O’Connor to dinner, the evening unfolds with hope, awkwardness, and heartbreak—forcing each character to confront their illusions and the limits of their dreams.
