About the project: "Violet" tells the story of a young, disfigured woman who embarks on a bus journey from her farm in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, to Tulsa, Oklahoma in order to be healed. The musical premiered Off-Broadway in 1997 and won the Drama Critics' Circle Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical. Rate: Independent Theatre Contract — $400 weekly minimum. Additional info: First Rehearsal: 5/4/2026 Tech Begins: 5/28/2026 Opening: 6/5/2026 Closing: 6/28/2026 Please prepare one monologue of approximately 1 minute and 32–64 bars of a song appropriate to the play. Total audition time should not exceed 5 minutes. Rehearsals generally run Sunday–Thursday from 6:00–10:00 PM, with designated days off set depending on cast availability and conflicts. Performances run Fridays through Sundays, 6/5–6/28/2026. Performances on Saturday 6/21 and Saturday 6/27 will be at 2:00 PM. All other Fridays and Saturdays are at 7:30 PM. Sundays at 2:00 PM.
