Abilene, TX, United States
ID: 597788Exp: 2/25/2026
Description:

Seeking kids and teens to audition for "The Sound of Music" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Me,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards for the stage musical and five Oscars for the film adaptation. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. Additional info: Prepare a 32-bar cut or verse/chorus from a Golden Age (pre-1965) musical in the style of The Sound of Music. We ask that you prepare material from a show other than The Sound of Music. AT YOUR AUDITION TIME: Directors are asking all auditionees to perform their selections with a live collaborative pianist, who will be provided at the audition. All auditionees must bring their own sheet music, clearly marked with start and stop. AFTER AUDITIONS: You will find out no later than Friday, February 27th, if you have been offered a callback. Please Note: "The Sound of Music" is based in and around actual historical events; in order to stay truthful to those circumstances, our rehearsal process and production will involve age-appropriate discussion of the threat of Nazi Germany and the Anschluss (forced annexation) of Austria in 1938. Nazi symbolism will also be used on stage during the production. PERFORMANCES ARE: JUNE 26-28 & JULY 2-3, 2026. If interested, please apply.
