Looking for young talent age 9-13 for the "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" Show. Please see the details below. ONLY LOCAL TALENT WILL BE ACCEPTED. About the project: The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas. Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film with songs from the motion picture including "Candy Man," "I've Got a Golden Ticket," "Oompa Loompa Song," and "Pure Imagination." Additional info: Auditioners are asked to prepare a vocal audition of a song (16-32 bars) in the musical theatre style (limit to a minute or less). Please bring a backing track (we're bluetooth capable) or sheet music for our accompanist. Arrive dressed to dance with appropriate footwear and ready to learn choreography from the show as well as cold read from the script. Please attend only one of the days listed: arrive early, be ready to start on time, and stay for the entire audition session. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will begin rehearsals the week of February 23rd, and will rehearse three to four evenings a week, Monday through Thursday. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be performed May 7th, 8th, and 9th at the Capitol Civic Centre in Manitowoc, WI. See the attachment for the audition form. Charlie Bucket is the emotional heart and soul of the musical. The actor performing Charlie should have an unchanged voice and lots of pluck and enthusiasm. The earnest and kind-hearted young protagonist of the story. Charlie comes from a poor family but dreams of a better life. He is selfless, compassionate, and possesses an unwavering moral compass. Charlie's integrity and pure heart lead him to be the final Golden Ticket winner.
