About the project: Leaving Van is a gritty, emotional, bilingual (Spanish/English) coming-of-age indie feature about JP, a troubled 17-year-old soccer prodigy who flees Canada after a violent incident defending his younger brother. Hiding out in Mexico City with distant relatives, JP struggles to rebuild his life while navigating guilt, new love, and escalating tension with a local rival. As soccer offers a rare shot at redemption, ghosts from his past and violence in his present threaten to derail everything. This film is produced under King Films (a narrative production banner of Todo Mobile Agency Ltd.) and aims for a lean, festival-ready production with strong cross-border cultural appeal, targeting festivals such as TIFF, Morelia, and San Sebastián. Rate: $10,000 CAD. This is a non-union, micro-budget independent feature. Meals, demo footage, and credits provided; compensation TBD depending on final production budget. JP (Juan Pablo) is a lean, athletic bilingual (Spanish/English) male with strong emotional depth. He is a soccer prodigy from Vancouver hiding a violent past and searching for redemption in Mexico City. The role requires grit, vulnerability, and charisma. Actor must be comfortable with emotionally intense material and ideally have real soccer skills. This is the lead role in a gritty, character-driven bilingual indie film.

AndyMale13-15 y.o.All ethnicities

Additional Character. JP’s younger brother. Sensitive, sharp, and full of heart. He looks up to JP but struggles with fear and trauma after a violent incident. Actor must show emotional range. Spanish not required, but bilingual preferred.

High School BullyMale16-18 y.o.All ethnicities

Additional Character. Charismatic but cruel. Confronts JP and Andy early in the film. Needs strong improvisational skills and confidence.
