"Brighton Beach Memoirs" Play Seeks Boys and Girls

About the project: A perfect coming-of-age comedy, Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs follows Eugene Jerome as he navigates the problems that come with being a teenager during the Great Depression. Additional info: Performance Dates: - February 12, 13, 20 at 7pm - February 15, 21 & 22 at 2pm All auditioners must be available for all rehearsals during the entire tech week, February 8 through February 12, 2026, and for all performance dates. No appointments are necessary for auditions. All auditioners will be provided with sides to read. Although not required, feel free to memorize a short monologue that demonstrates your acting skills. Please bring a headshot and resume, if available. Photos may be taken at the audition for performers without headshots. If you are interested, please apply.

A fourteen-year-old student, Eugene is at the center of the play, observing and taking part in the action and commenting directly to the audience about what’s going on and what’s already happened. An eighteen-year-old young man, Stanley went to work straight after high school to help support his family. He tries to live by the principles of fairness and risks his job standing up for a fellow employee. For more information, see the attachment.
A sixteen-year-old high school student, Nora has spent many years studying dance and wants to be a performer on stage. She feels angry when her mother Blanche follows Jack’s advice not to let her audition for a Broadway musical. For more information, see the attachment.
A thirteen-year-old student, Laurie has been diagnosed with a weak heart, so her mother believes she is fragile and keeps her in the house. Laurie uses her weak heart to get out of chores. She has few responsibilities to the household and no friends. Laurie spends her time reading and studying. She has few memories of her father.
