Mexican-American boy from a mariachi family in Boyle Heights. He’s not into mariachi at first — he’s obsessed with American-style wrestling instead. Defensive, sarcastic, stubborn… but underneath that there’s a sensitive kid who’s scared he doesn’t belong. Comfortable code-switching mid-line. Vocal range: A3–E5 (flexible), Needs to carry lead melodies and jump into higher emotional phrases. Mix of Latin pop / kid musical theatre and light spoken-rap sections.
“The Mariachi Mask” is a 7-minute animated musical about Fofo, an 11-year-old Mexican-American kid who hates his family’s mariachi roots and idolizes American wrestling. After a painful clash with his mom and a rooftop heart-to-heart with his grandfather, Fofo creates a new identity in the ring that fuses mariachi and lucha libre, discovering his own way to honor where he comes from.
