LEAD ROLE. Angela is strong-willed, independent, and fiercely protective of her autistic brother Buddy. Despite her unconditional love for her brother, she is turning 10 this year, so she craves some space to grow into herself. As she works to carve her own path, Angela has grown tired of being expected to play a caregiving role for her brother, Buddy. She fears that her relationship to her brother will come with a burden that she will carry for life.

SUPPORTING ROLE. 1 LINE. Buddy is generally gentle, quiet, and socially anxious. At 3 years old, he was diagnosed with autism. Given his needs, his mother coddles him. He is comfortable with this, since he can expect to have most things done for him. He shifts the family dynamic and takes attention away from his sister Angela. Buddy is quite musical and generally prefers to be alone or with familiar people.
